Dr. John E. Crosland is licensed by the state of North Carolina to practice dentistry and has a Certificate in the Specialty of Periodontics. He received his degree in general dentistry from the University of Texas at Houston Dental Branch and his specialty training in Periodontics from the University of North Carolina.

A member of The American Dental Association, The North Carolina Society of Periodontics, the Southern Academy of Periodontology, and the American Academy of Periodontology, Dr. Crosland has served on the Board and as President of the North Carolina Society of Periodontics and the Southern Academy of Periodontology and has served on the Board of Trustees of the American Academy of Periodontology. He also served on the Cleveland County Board of Health for six years, and prior to that time received the Community Living Associations Special Recognition Award in appreciation for outstanding contributions of professional services given to those persons in the Cleveland County area.

Dr. Crosland has been married since 1977 and has two children. They attend First Baptist Church of Shelby. Dr. Crosland enjoys tennis, bow hunting, gardening, and skiing. He has two dogs and a cat and lives on a small farm.

Dr. Crosland is dedicated to his periodontal practice and has been in practice in Shelby since 1982. More than 95% of his practice is by referral from the neighboring dental community. He enjoys an excellent relationship with all of the dentists enabling him and his staff to supply a well coordinated and collaborative care for each of his patients.

The Ritz-Carlton hotel chain known for its exquisite service has a motto:

Dr. Crosland likes to think the same is true for his staff, his patients, and himself.
